I thought I’d repost and adapt something I wrote on my LiveJournal a few months ago, as I have a very supportive Anon here on Tumblr who keeps asking me when the next chapter is coming and what’s in store for the future. I thought maybe I could answer their question with a post that might be of interest to other readers.
So, here we go.
Book I - ‘The Innocents’ - the title of Book I is taken from the novel’s title;
New addition to post: Book I is almost finished and I’m still hoping to post Ch15 in the next couple of days although you never know with me. It really should have been the last chapter, but for very specific, narrative reasons it can’t be (it’s to do with POV). I’ve known what happened in the last chapter right from the start, and what I can tell you already as a sneak preview is that, just as the Prologue was narrated by Zac, so will the final chapter of Book I. If it means having a split POV chapter (Isaac/Zac), so be it. So….expect two more chapters - 15 and 16.
Book II - ‘CANAAN’s Children’- will pick up straight from where Book I ends. It will be centred on the boys’ search for their father. They will be haunted by elements of their life in the Flock…and there will be a few surprises along the way….you’ll see!
New addition to post: I’m going to start Book II as soon as Book I is out of the way so rest assured, there’ll be no major pause in between. Just my usual slow writing ;-)
Book III - ‘The Way of The Shepherd’ - will be a sort of ‘prequel’ telling the boys’ life story from their childhood in the Flock up until their escape. It will ‘fit’ in the overall story somehow, I’m just trying to figure it out at the moment.

If this sounds a bit pretentious, or ambitious, well, it probably is. But I have started now and I have no intention of quitting. For those of you who are still reading, I hope you will stay with me despite the inevitable bumps along the way. I am going to stick to my guns - this will not turn into the usual love triangle kind of story. And yes, it’s a little bit warped and a little bit sick maybe, but it’s the story that I wanted to tell. It’s not Disney, it’s not canon, and it’s most certainly not for everybody. But I can promise that it will never turn to mindless porn. Trust me when I say that every single line I write is agonised over and over; nothing is put there at random, or just to titillate the reader and get a few more comments (smut sells).
In all honesty, and at the risk of once again sounding big headed, I am now thinking of TI as an original story - it’s not really a fanfiction, and it’s not really Zaylor. It’s a shame that its association with hancest will inevitably put a lot of people off reading it - when in actual fact, the incest element is subtle and completely justified within the story by the boys’ cult background. But you can’t win them all, right?
I hope you’ll follow me on the rest of this adventure. I’ve had so much fun so far, and I can honestly say that without everyone’s encouragement I wouldn’t still be writing some six months later. Your response to The Innocents really took me by surprise and all I can say is thank you.

I’m glad to report that Chapter 15 is almost finished - one more scene to write.
Please book a couple of days off to read it, because it’s going to be another long one I’m afraid.
